The complete renovation of Tweed Heads & Coolangatta SLSC was undertaken in 3 stages so as to allow the club to operate while construction took place. Shane Denman Architects were approached early on by the club to design and document the staged construction works of the approved DA.

Externally, distinct blocks were chosen to closely match the instantly recognisable and familiar surf club colours. The blockwork also features internally with considered detailing in the variation in course height, lay pattern and textural finishes.​

 

The robust and resilient attributes of the selected building materials was paramount in the surf-side location of the club building, emplaced immediately adjacent the beach, with its front-line exposure to sea salt spray and ocean wind, in combination with the highly trafficked patronage of a popular and colloquially Australian venue.
