TRYP BRISBANE / CHUR & UP
DATE: 2014 | LOCATION: Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, QLD
The international boutique chain TRYP operate art style hotels across the USA Europe. Since TRYP on Constance served as their flagship hotel and first establishment in Australia they were looking for something unique that would fit their style.
The original inspection of the derelict building uncovered a substantial amount of very impressive graffiti / street art and inspired us to use artwork to feature in the
interior design and external theming. Some in-house detective work identified the original artists, who were contacted and agreed to contribute their individual styles to
a floor each as well as external pieces. This idea was put to the project manager and clients as our preferred option and after some discussion was agreed this was the
line we would take.
Overall, the existing building was salvaged, additional levels added including a new rooftop bar. The whole building underwent renovation.
Original, rustic elements of the building were restored such as 150-year-old recycled timber flooring and provide a striking contrast with modern custom designed
fixtures, fittings and furniture, as well as the artwork.
