RIVERSIDE 2
DATE: 2004 | LOCATION: Carrara, Gold Coast, QLD
The project comprises four buildings on a 2.4-hectare site on the main river at Carrara. Previously it housed six separate sites with a motel, nursery, ski school and dwellings. We had previously renovated one of the houses for the same Client, which remained. We renovated the ski school into a family entertainment complex that incorporated kitchen, dining, living, guest suite and home theatre.
Externally there is a wood-fired pizza oven, a teppanyaki bar, a large river deck with a pontoon providing access to the river. New boat ramp facilities were also constructed with a fish cleaning and crab cooking area. The other buildings were demolished to make way for the two luxury residences each of approximately 1000m2. One of the houses incorporated a large gallery entry with an internal link to a fully equipped gym. A fully tiled 25metre wet edge lap pool and full-size day/night tennis court contribute to the facilities of the estate.
The other residence has been designed to accommodate a large family and has separate areas to allow privacy for all. The grounds have been landscaped with a lush tropical theme, but still incorporating large parkland type open space. A large boardwalk links all the buildings via the river edge, with private seating areas having been designed as part of the boardwalk system.
We undertook the design and documentation of all the hard landscaping as part of our commission, with the landscape architect providing the soft landscape design and documentation details. Attention to detail was the top and foremost priority for this project – from the stone and timber front fence to the shade structure over the teppanyaki bar. We also undertook all the interior design and selections for the total project.
