2A CONCRETE HOUSE

DATE: 2015 | LOCATION:  Palm Beach, Gold Coast, QLD

2A Concrete is a 2-storey house constructed on a double beachfront block in Palm Beach.  The site has a narrow easement vehicle entry which added a degree of difficulty to the logistics of the building.

The Clients had researched having a solid off-form concrete minimalist home and approached Shane Denman Architects who worked very closely with them to further develop these concepts into their dream beach home.

Requirements for 6 bedrooms plus separate kids zone; living, dining and kitchen to look out over Palm  Beach; study; wine cellar and amenities were all met.

The building is 95% off-form concrete – floors, walls, ceiling, stairs, kitchen and island benches.  This involved vast architectural detailing to ensure a first-class finish was achieved.

3m x 3m glass sliding doors slide past their opening to give clear access to the patio, grassed area and beach enabling the Clients to enjoy the sights and sounds of beautiful Palm Beach.

Copper is featured throughout in the large pivot front door, garage doors, gutters and downpipes and the natural patina process has begun.

Outdoors, a plunge pool and spa are sunken into the concrete deck and allow swimmers to sit and enjoy ocean views and breezes.
